Berkshire Health Systems and Berkshire Running Foundation announce registration is open for the annual 2024 Berkshire Health Systems July 4th 5K Road Race. Thanks to the generosity of this year’s BHS race sponsors, registration is free for all Berkshire County students through June 15, 2024, to encourage families to participate in the race together. All Berkshire County students in grades K-12 are eligible for this opportunity.
“We are so grateful to our 5K sponsors, who make it possible for us to expand participation in the race to people of all ages and abilities,” said Maureen Daniels, Director of Wellness and Community Health for BHS.
BHS is partnering with Berkshire Running Foundation again this year to offer a free six-week education and training program for those who want to hone their skills in preparation for this classic race.
“Whether you’re a walker or a seasoned runner, all levels are welcome and encouraged to join the training program,” says Berkshire Running Foundation Director Shiobbean Lemme.
The program is being held on Tuesdays and Saturdays, from Saturday, May 25th through June 29th. Participants will gather those Saturday mornings at 8 am at the Crane Avenue entrance to the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail. On Tuesdays, there will be speed workouts at 5 am and 6 pm at the Taconic High School track. Participants can register for this training program even after May 25th.
