Chief Medical Officer/Chief Quality Officer of Berkshire Health Systems
James W. Lederer, Jr., MD
Dr. James Lederer joined Berkshire Health Systems in January 2020 moving from the north-east. Relocating just months before the pandemic began, he played a key role in guiding the organization through an unprecedented time with steady leadership, deep clinical expertise, and clear communication. With more than 20 years of experience across hospitals, health systems, and physician practices, he brings a patient-centered approach and a focus on quality to everything he does. Fellowship-trained in Infectious Diseases and board certified in both Internal Medicine and Adult Infectious Diseases, Dr. Lederer is also known for his approachable style and the ease with which he collaborates with providers across the system. He lives in the Berkshires with his family, where he enjoys rock climbing and the natural beauty of the region, he proudly calls home.

Marcella Bradway, MD
Dr. Bradway is board certified in general and colon and rectal surgery and fellowship trained in colon and rectal surgery from St. Francis Hospital, Hartford, CT. She received her medical degree from the University of Massachusetts Medical School and completed her residency at the University of Connecticut Integrated Surgical Residency Program. A Pittsfield native, she previously served as Chair of Surgery for Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT and returned to her hometown of Pittsfield in 2008.
Senior Director of Hospital-Based Physician Organization
Jack Bailey, MS, FACHE
As the Senior Director of Hospital-Based Physicians he leads strategy and operations for hospital-based service lines, including Emergency Medicine, Medicine, Anesthesia, Behavioral Health, Hospital Medicine, Cancer, and Orthopedics & Surgery, partnering closely with Department Chairs and Critical Access Hospital COOs. Outside of work, Jack is an ultramarathon runner and coach, proud dad of three busy kids, and biggest supporter of his wife, a middle-school educator.
Lead Surgical Advanced Practice Provider
Stacy Shaw, Surgical Physician Assistant
As the lead surgical physician assistant lead, Stacy provides advanced surgical care, including first assist in the operating room, pre- and post-operative management, and inpatient rounding. He leads and mentors our surgical PA team, oversees scheduling and workflow, ensures clinical quality and safety, and collaborates with surgeons, nursing, and administration to optimize patient care and team performance. Outside of work, Stacy enjoys the ease of living and working in the Berkshires, where mountain trails and cultural gems are never far away.

Paula Downer
Paula plays an integral role in the Department of Surgery, wearing many hats including her leadership in the recruitment process. She is often the first point of contact for candidates and new team members, helping to ensure a smooth, welcoming, and well-organized experience from day one. In addition to managing schedules for the Chief, Department of Surgery and coordinating department-wide communications, Paula is a key force behind the scenes, helping the department run efficiently while creating a warm, supportive environment for all.
A lifelong resident of Lenox, Paula brings the heart of the Berkshires into everything she does. Outside of work, you might find her hiking scenic trails, enjoying live music at Tanglewood, working out at Bousquet, or playing a lively game of pickleball. Passionate about her hometown, she is always happy to share the beauty and fun of the Berkshires with newcomers.

Michelle Maston
Michelle has been a dedicated member of Berkshire Healthcare for six years, focused on recruiting physicians and advanced practice providers who are passionate about providing exceptional care in the beautiful Berkshires. She works closely with candidates from first contact through onboarding, making the process as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
A proud Berkshire local, Michelle lives in Lanesborough with her husband, energetic young son, and their two lovable dogs.
