Women's Imaging Center
The Women's Imaging Center at BMC opened its doors in 2003 as a place to focus on women's health, with radiology services, education and support. Expert diagnostic services for breast health, ob/gyn, osteoporosis and other health issues are the essential functions, but the actual mission is far more comprehensive. In a warm and peaceful setting carved out of the first floor of the Medical Arts Building, the center has emerged as the region's premier radiology facility designed by and for women to advance their health.
The focus is on regular screenings that promote and maintain health. At the Women's Imaging Center, we offer a full range of state-of-the-art technology for mammography, ultrasound and bone density tests, with results available to referring physicians within 24 hours. Our services are centralized so that more advanced tests and biopsies can be obtained in the same location, often on the same day. We are fully integrated with the entire healthcare system, providing our patients with immediate access to other medical specialists. Education, support and extensive resources are provided all our patients, so that they are armed with the latest information to help make informed healthcare choices.
The Women's Imaging Center at BMC provides the community with educational programs on breast cancer and women's health, thanks in part to generous support from the Massachusetts Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, which works to reduce breast cancer in our state by funding education, screening and treatment programs, with an emphasis on those facing barriers to care.
Above all, the Women's Imaging Center is known for the caring, personalized attention provided our patients. Early detection is the most progressive step any woman can take toward living a longer, healthier life. Ensuring that women get this message - and know they don't have to go through any of the process alone or without information - is what the Women's Imaging Center is all about.
