About Sebastian Koga, MD

I am a board-certified neurosurgeon with a focus on brain tumors and complex spine surgery. My approach to patient care is grounded in trust, clear communication, and taking the time to educate each patient about their condition. I believe that some of the most important moments in neurosurgery happen outside the operating room—helping patients and their families feel informed, reassured, and supported as they navigate difficult decisions.

My goal is always to deliver the highest level of care while treating every patient with the same attention and compassion I would want for my own family. Having experienced multiple international healthcare systems, I bring a broad perspective on neurosurgical care that emphasizes both technical excellence and patient-centered decision-making.

I was drawn to the Berkshires because of its strong sense of community and the opportunity to strengthen neurosciences. Many patients in this region have had to travel far from home to receive specialized neurosurgical care, and I am deeply motivated to help bring that level of care locally. I am committed to building an academic-level neurosurgical program at Berkshire Medical Center.

Outside of medicine, I value time spent with my wife and two young sons. I enjoy literature, equestrian polo, mountaineering, and Japanese martial arts. These interests reflect what I value most in neurosurgery—precision, patience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
