The Sleep Disorders Center
The Sleep Disorders Center at the BMC Hillcrest Campus is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM), Out of Center Sleep Testing (OCST) and is an active member of the National Sleep Foundation.
Our Sleep Disorders Center provides security, privacy and comfort for our patients, and testing is performed six days a week. Patients enter through the BMC Cancer Center entrance and are greeted by a technician who will bring them to the Sleep Center where they will sleep in a private, comfortable, secure bedroom setting (bariatric beds are available) and technician will monitor them from a control room.
It is possible to complete an abbreviated sleep study exam in the comfort of the patient’s home utilizing one of our home sleep testing kits. If a home sleep exam is ordered by a primary care physician, the BMC Sleep Disorders Center staff will assist the patient every step of the way.
An initial appointment will be made at our office to meet with a technologist who will completely review the home kit, placement of sensors and recording process. A written manual and DVD are included in the kit to help assist the patient. Technicians are available 7:00PM-7:00AM if there are any questions throughout the study period.
