Massachusetts Leads the Nation in Closing Gaps in Care
Massachusetts has become the first state in the nation where every acute care hospital has earned the Joint Commission’s Excellent Health Outcomes for All certification—showing a strong, statewide commitment to better care for all patients.
Over the past several years, hospitals across the Commonwealth have implemented comprehensive strategies to improve health outcomes for all patients. These efforts include enhanced collection of patient demographic data, expanded screening for health-related social needs, strengthened partnerships with community organizations, and targeted quality improvement initiatives designed to address long-standing disparities
As a community-based health system serving Berkshire County, Berkshire Health Systems (BHS) is proud to be part of this statewide progress. BHS supports both its acute care and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) facilities in advancing equitable, high-quality care tailored to the needs of rural populations. These efforts reflect the unique role CAHs play in ensuring access to care in geographically dispersed communities, where transportation, socioeconomic factors, and limited resources can impact health outcomes.
