Throughout May, we celebrate the dedicated employees who care for Berkshire County
At Berkshire Health Systems, we know that we have an exceptional workforce all year-round, but, for our organization, May is a special time for appreciation. With National Nurses Week and National Hospital Week falling in May each year, the month becomes a system wide thank you to the people who are the heartbeat of our health system. As the largest employer in Berkshire County, BHS is grateful every day for the more than 4,300+ employees who care for our friends, neighbors, and community members across the system—from clinicians and therapists to technicians, administrators, and support staff. We celebrate annually with meals for everyone on our teams, honor those celebrating milestone service anniversaries, and recognize a star group of employees, nominated by their peers, who do an amazing job of living our organizational values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence every day.
Celebratory Luncheons
Across our hospitals and outpatient locations, we make time to come together in May. At Berkshire Medical Center and its Hillcrest Campus, at Fairview Hospital, and at North Adams Regional Hospital, our dietary services teams prepare a special celebratory meal for all employees on all shifts We also bring the celebration to off-site locations with team lunches for Urgent Care, Renal Dialysis, provider practices and outpatient clinics, and administrative teams based in off-campus sites. These gatherings give people a chance to connect across departments, see familiar faces, and enjoy good food together.
Milestone Anniversary Event
We’re proud to celebrate the people in our community who make care possible. Each May, we honor employees who have reached meaningful milestones—from 15 years to 50 years and beyond—recognizing their dedication to caring for patients and supporting one another. This special celebration, held at Tanglewood in Lenox, is one of the ways we can say ‘thank you’ to those who have spent years, and often decades, caring for Berkshire County.
CARE Awards
At Berkshire Health Systems, our work is guided by our CARE values—Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence. Each May, we celebrate employees who bring these values to life every day. These individuals are nominated and selected by their colleagues, recognizing the meaningful ways they support patients and one another.
We’re proud to share their stories across our facilities, in local media, on social media, and here on our website—so our community can see the people behind the care and the values that guide everything we do.
To our 4,300+ colleagues: thank you. We’re proud to celebrate you this May and grateful to our community for helping us recognize the care you provide every day, night, weekend, and holiday– Because caring for our community never closes.
Your Voice Shapes Better Care
Our community plays an important role in recognizing and supporting the people who care for you. There are simple, meaningful ways to share your appreciation and help us continue to improve:
- Nominate an exceptional nurse for the DAISY Award. Patients, family members, visitors, and colleagues are all welcome to submit a nomination and recognize compassionate, outstanding care. Submit a DAISY Award nomination.
- Share your experience through a patient survey. After your visit, you may receive a survey by mail, phone, or text. Taking a few minutes to respond helps us recognize team members who made a difference and identify opportunities to improve care for everyone.
- Reach out to our Patient Experience team. If you have questions, concerns, or feedback, you can contact us by phone at 413-447-2466 or by email at BHSPatientExperience@BHS1.org
