On July 4, 2026, Berkshire Health Systems held its annual 5k Race just before the launch of the annual Pittsfield Parade, under sunny skies, marking the nation’s 250th anniversary in style. The BHS 5K Race drew 1,325 runners, including 807 men, 749 women and three nonbinary individuals. Students were able to run for free again this year, thanks to the many local sponsors of the race, and their participation jumped from 370 in 2025 to 454 this year. Berkshire Health Systems staff who wanted to run also participated for free.
