Varithena® polidocanol Microfoam treatment does not require any incisions or general anesthesia.
It can be used for treatment of wide variety of veins. Only 2 or 3 needle punctures using local anesthesia, similar to having a blood test are required.
TYPES OF VEINS TREATED
Varithena treats a wide range of varicose veins, including:
HOW VARITHENA WORKS-WHAT IS INVOLVED?
The doctor administers a small amount of Varithena through a catheter or by small needle injection into the malfunctioning vein. The Varithena® microfoam fills and treats the desired section of the vein. The diseased vein collapses and the microfoam is deactivated. A compression bandage is worn for 48 hours and a compression stocking is worn for 2 weeks. “Normal” activity resumes immediately while heavy exercise is avoided for one week.
WHAT ARE THE RESULTS?
80-90% of patients experience significant relief of symptoms and improvement in appearance. More than one treatment session may be required for optimal results. Insurance coverage for Varithena is available for most patients with medically significant vein disease.
