Healthy Food Drive Provides Thanksgiving Meals |
November 17, 2011 For Immediate Release Healthy Food Drive Helps Provide Meals for Thanksgiving PITTSFIELD, MA - Berkshire Health Systems, in partnership with Berkshire Community College and the Tri-Town Health Department’s Be Well Berkshires campaign, recently conducted a Healthy Food Drive to collect nutritionally beneficial foods for families and individuals in need. Share The Bounty in the County succeeded in collecting in approximately 1,000 pounds, or a half-ton, of food. The food is being distributed by the Salvation Army of Pittsfield and will benefit 53 families in the area. In addition to the food collection, which was conducted at Berkshire Health Systems facilities and BCC, Suburban Medical in Lee generously donated $250 to the drive. While the drive was open to the general public, the vast majority of food donations were made by employees of Berkshire Health Systems and Tri-Town Health and employees and students of Berkshire Community College. The food will be distributed in reusable bags supplied by Berkshire Health Systems in time for Thanksgiving. |
