All patients have the right to make complaint without fear of reprisal. We encourage you to do so by contacting Patient Relations or by contacting the nursing or department director or your physician. Additionally, complaints may be made to external agencies, including the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Board of Registration of Medicine, and Department of Mental Health. Please contact Patient Relations if you want additional information.
The Joint Commission Public Notice Regarding Safety & Quality of Care
The Joint Commission periodically conducts an accreditation survey of Berkshire Medical Center. The purpose of the survey is to evaluate the organization's compliance with nationally established Joint Commission standards. The survey results are used to determine whether - and the conditions under which - accreditation should be awarded to Berkshire Medical Center.
The Joint Commission standards deal with the organization and safety of quality-of-care issues, as well as the safety of the environment in which care is provided.
As a patient, family member, community representative or employee of Berkshire Medical Center, you have the right to notify The Joint Commission regarding any concern about the quality of care provided, the safety of care provided, or the safety of the environment in which care is provided. Anyone believing that he or she has pertinent and valid information about such matters should notify The Joint Commission at 1-800-994-6610 (toll-free) or e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
