In an effort to provide quality healthcare to all and in compliance with State and Federal laws, Fairview Hospital has 24 hour coverage for 140 foreign languages through a telephone translation system for both inpatients and outpatient services.
We currently provide in-person Spanish and Portugese interpreter service when available. These services are provided free of charge to any patients needing medical translation.
Patients who are deaf or hearing impaired will be identified upon the Admission Assessment completed by Nursing or during the admission process; issues with hearing deficits will be noted in the Patient Care Plan. Arrangements for sign language interpreter services should be directed to the Nursing Shift Director or the Patient Advocate who will contact the Massachusetts Commission for Deaf and Hard of Hearing to request appropriate services. Patients are not charged for the use of interpreter services.
