Following a tradition established a century ago, the Berkshire VNA provides teaching, health counseling and screening in the community, reaching thousands of Berkshire residents of all ages each year. Our programs include:
Senior Health Clinics - Under a special grant BVNA provides regularly scheduled clinics for the residents of Columbia Arms, Rose Manor and Providence Court, providing health assessment, medication review, supportive counseling, health education, nutrition education, early detection of health problems, referrals to health care professionals and social services, and a liaison for medical intervention.
Walk-In Blood Pressure Screenings - As requested at the BMC Hillcrest Campus Library and in Great Barrington to identify people with hypertension and monitor them regularly.
Board of Health Nursing - For the communities of Lenox, Dalton, Great Barrington, Sheffield, Lanesboro, Alford, Monterey, Hinsdale, and Cheshire. Providing follow-up and consultation on communicable diseases, immunization clinics for influenza, pneumonia and health promotion clinics.
Immunization Clinics - Providing immunizations to nearly 5,000 residents each year fromlate fall till early winter, through clinics held at Berkshire Health Systems facilities, local retail establishments and supermarkets.
Special Programs - Held throughout the year, including our popular Senior Sundays lecture series and health promotion clinics.
Our Service Area - Includes 30 towns and cities covering 931 square miles. Our services are offered to people in the areas of: Adams, Alford, Becket, Cheshire, Dalton, Egremont, Great Barrington, Hancock, Hinsdale, Housatonic, Lanesboro, Lee, Lenox, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Ashford, New Marlboro, North Adams, Otis, Pittsfield, Peru, Richmond, Sandisfield, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tryingham, Becket, Washington, West Stockbridge, Williamstown, and Windsor.
