Helping every individual cancer patient at BMC is a multidisciplinary team of expert cancer specialists coordinating and administering care. Their collective expertise combines the highest levels of training and certification, experience, and commitment - and a personal touch.
The entire range of specialized knowledge and skills essential to treating cancer is represented by the team members of BMC's Cancer Committee. Meeting every month to plan, monitor, and improve all aspects of cancer care throughout Berkshire Health Systems, the 30-member team includes oncology specialists, primary care physicians, a certified cancer registrar, nurses, nutritionists, clinicians, and staff, as well as professionals from many other departments and a representative from the American Cancer Society.
BMC collaborates closely with your primary care physicians and other specialists including the staff Hematology Oncology and Berkshire Surgical Associates.
A multidisciplinary team of specialist also presents and analyzes individual cases at weekly cancer conferences, sharing expertise in diagnosis and treatment.
Another component of BMC's cancer care team is the cancer registry staff, who compile and manage a database of cancer patient statistics from diagnosis to long-term follow-up. The accuracy and timeliness of this information is essential, and received a commendation from the CoC. Analysis of these statistics, with state wide and national comparison, provides crucial information about trends in cancer prognosis and treatment results.
