BMC Diabetes Program Offers Pre-Diabetes Information Sessions
PITTSFIELD, MA – The Berkshire Medical Center Diabetes Self-Management Education Program will provide a two-part series of information sessions on Pre-Diabetes in January. The first session will be held on Monday, January 16th and the second on Monday, January 23rd. Both programs will be held from 4 to 5:30 pm in the Private Dining Rooms at BMC, just outside the BMC Café.
The program is free and open to anyone who has been told by their physician that they have Pre-Diabetes or Metabolic Syndrome. This is a condition where the blood sugar is abnormal but not high enough yet to be called Diabetes. It is often accompanied by high cholesterol, high blood pressure and/or being overweight.
The two-part program will be presented by Melanie Seserman, a Registered Dietitian at BMC, who will assist participants in understanding how to potentially reverse Pre-Diabetes and prevent the development of Diabetes.
The sessions are limited to 20 participants, and pre-registration is required. To pre-register, call 413-395-7942 or visit the Berkshire Health Systems website, www.berkshirhealthsystems.org.
