BERKSHIRE MEDICAL CENTER ANNOUNCES KERMIT GORDON AND BMC NURSING SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS
PITTSFIELD, MA - The Kermit Gordon and BMC Nursing Scholarships were recently awarded by Berkshire Medical Center to 22 Berkshire County students enrolled in Medicine, Nursing, Radiography, Physical Therapy and other healthcare related professional education programs. Through the support and generosity of the Gordon Family – longstanding donors to Berkshire Medical Center – fifteen Berkshire County students were recently awarded scholarships to begin or continue their education in the healthcare field. BMC Nursing Scholarships were awarded to seven Berkshire students who are studying nursing.
The Kermit Gordon Scholarships were awarded to:
•Challis Adams, who is attending Berkshire Community College to study Nursing.
•Patrick Bonavitacola, a graduate of Lenox High School attending the University of Massachusetts Medical School to attain his medical degree. His parents are Patrick and Carol Ann Bonavitacola of Lenox.
•Joel Bradley, attending the University of Massachusetts Medical School to attain his medical degree, and the son of Robert and Ruth Bradley of Windsor.
•Nicole Chaves, a graduate of Pittsfield High School, attending Springfield College to study for a Physician Assistant degree, and the daughter of Deborah Chaves of Pittsfield and John Chaves of Dalton.
•Kathryn Goyette, a graduate of Hoosac Valley High School, attending Springfield College to study Physical Therapy, daughter of Paul and Ruth Goyette of Adams.
•Jillian and Sadie Koczela, both graduates of Wahconah Regional High School and daughters of Brian and Ann Koczela of Windsor. Jillian is attending the University of Connecticut to study Pharmacy, and Sadie is attending Westfield State University to study Psychology.
•John Lavinio, a graduate of Wahconah Regional High School, attending Western New England College to study Pharmacy, son of Mick and Kathy Lavinio of Dalton.
•Cassie Lincoln, a graduate of Drury High School, attending Providence College to study Pre-Medicine, daughter of Krista Lincoln of North Adams and Todd Lincoln of Adams.
•Marisse Merwin, a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, attending Mt. St. Mary College to study Nursing, daughter of Rebecca Merwin of Pittsfield.
•Susan Mullany, attending MGH Institute of Health Professions studying Nursing, daughter of G. Thomas and Helen Mullany of Great Barrington.
•Sara Plager, graduate of Lenox High School, attending Bowdoin College studying Biology/Chemistry and Pre-Medicine, daughter of Andrew and Lori Plager of Lenox.
•Katrina Rock, graduate of Monument Mountain High School, attending Salem State University to study Nursing, daughter of Peter and Helen Rock of Sandisfield.
•Sara Scorpa, graduate of Mt. Greylock Regional High School, attending Sacred Heart University to study Physical Therapy, daughter of John and Carol Scorpa of Lanesboro.
•Anuj Shah, graduate of Drury High School, attending Williams College to study Pre-Medicine, son of Kamlesh and Priti Shah of North Adams.
BMC Nursing Scholarships were awarded to the following nursing school candidates:
•Kayla Brown-Wood, a graduate of Drury High School, attending the University of Rhode Island, daughter of Scott and Amy Wood of Clarksburg.
•Michele Delisle of Pittsfield, attending the University of Colorado.
•Athena Furtado, a graduate of Drury High School, attending Berkshire Community College, daughter of Susan Quackenbush of North Adams.
•Carly King, a graduate of Pittsfield High School, attending the University of Vermont, daughter of William and Kari King of Pittsfield.
•Abigail LeRose, a graduate of Taconic High School, attending the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth, daughter of Joseph and Patricia LeRose of Pittsfield.
•Justin Wagner, attending Berkshire Community College, son of Donald and Paula Wagner of Pittsfield.
•Caroleena Zerbas, attending Berkshire Community College, daughter of Pauline Zervas of Pittsfield.
