BIG Y SUPERMARKET SUPPORTS BMC AND FAIRVIEW THROUGH CHARITY GOLF OUTING
PITTSFIELD, MA – Big Y Supermarkets has donated $5,000 to Berkshire Medical Center and $ 5,000 to Fairview Hospital from the proceeds of the 2009 Paul H. D’Amour Memorial Charity Golf Outing. BMC and Fairview were two of 20 charitable organizations that benefited from the annual Big Y tournament, which over the past 28 years has raised over $2 million for local charities and the Big Y Scholarship Program.
The $5,000 donation to Berkshire Medical Center will support the hospital’s Electrophysiology Lab, a service new to Berkshire County that is an important treatment option for patients with challenging heart rhythms. The $5,000 donation to Fairview Hospital will support clinical programs at Fairview, a Critical Access Hospital.
“Berkshire Health Systems is very pleased and grateful to have our hospitals named as beneficiaries of the Paul H. D’Amour Memorial Charity Golf Outing by Big Y Supermarkets,” said Ruth Blodgett, Senior Vice President of Planning and Development for BHS. “We thank Big Y and its employees for their generous support of our mission to provide the best quality care for our community.”
“Big Y has been a part of Berkshire County for 25 years. This $10,000 donation to Berkshire Health Systems reflects our ongoing efforts to support our local communities,” said Donald H. D’Amour, Chairman and CEO for Big Y.
