Joint - Patient Education
Berkshire Medical Center provides a pre-operative Patient Education Class for patients who are scheduled for Joint Replacement Surgery. Patients are contacted by a scheduler from the BMC Center for Rehabilitation to enroll in the Total Joint Replacement Program Patient Education Class.
The class is presented by members of the orthopaedic care team - an orthopedic nurse, physical and occupational therapist, and orthopedic case manager discuss what to expect in the hospital; tips on working with therapy; setting up your home with safety in mind; expected length of stay in the hospital; and planning for your discharge. You will also have the chance to meet other members of your care team; talk with other patients preparing for surgery; see demonstrations of the therapy equipment used; and have your questions answered.
- Berkshire Medical Center Medical Arts Complex: alternating Wednesday evenings from 5 to 7 p.m. and Thursday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m.
- Fairview Commons, 151 Christian Hill Road Gt. Barrington, MA: Monthly Tuesday mornings 9 to 11 a.m.
