Competitive Benefits Package

To demonstrate our commitment to our employees and physicians, Berkshire Health Systems offers some of the most competitive benefits in healthcare ~ providing both flexibility and choice.

Health Insurance Coverage
Several different health insurance plans are available to meet the diverse needs of employees and their families. These options include an innovative wellness plan through Blue Cross that provides generous fitness and weight loss benefits to members. The medical plan is designed to engage you in your healthcare decisions and reward you to change unhealthy behaviors.
Dental Insurance Coverage Physicians with a 24-hour commitment are eligible for dental coverage. Three dental options provide different levels of basic, preventative and restorative services.
Malpractice Insurance
Malpractice insurance is available at no cost to employed physicians.
Short-Term/Long-Term Disability
Both Short-Term and Long-Term Disability programs are available to Berkshire Health System physicians. Eligibility for various options depends on employment status and individual choice of coverage.
Supplemental Life and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Berkshire Health Systems offers the option to purchase several levels of coverage, for the physician, spouse and children.
Flexible Spending Accounts
There are 2 spending account options available under the Flexible Benefit Program. A Healthcare and/or Dependent Care Spending Account can be established to shelter between $104 and $5,000 eligible expenses from taxation per year under each account. Debit cards are provided to employees to pay for most eligible out-of-pocket expenses at the time of purchase or when services are rendered.
Retirement Plans
  • 403(b) Plan
    Berkshire Health Systems offers a defined contribution pension plan designed as a 403(b) tax-sheltering program. This plan is managed by Diversified Investments Advisors.  After one year of employment, BHS will contribute 2.5% of your annual salary. In addition, BHS will contribute a half percent match for every 1% contributed by the employee up to the first 4% of your employee contribution.
  • 457(b) Plan
    You can also participate, on a voluntary basis, in a 457(b) deferred compensation retirement plan. You can contribute additional tax deferred dollars to your 457(b) plan in addition to any 403(b) contributions you make in each calendar year.
Continuing Medical Education Berkshire Health Systems will grant paid-time off to attend educational or professional meetings. This time is not cumulative. There is also an annual reimbursement for courses, travel and dues.
