Fairview Surgery Patient Instructions
PRE ANESTHESIA SERVICES - (413) 854-9813
All elective surgery patients will be given a telephone appointment prior to your surgery in which you will be told to call the Pre Anesthesia Office (PAS). You will speak with a Registered Nurse who will obtain a medical history, a list of all medications taken, and go over what to expect regarding the upcoming surgery. This will include instructions to follow before the day of surgery as well as on the day of surgery.
You will meet with your anesthesiologist on the morning of your surgery to discuss anesthesia options and have your questions answered. If you wish to speak with an anesthesiologist prior to the day of your surgery, this will be arranged through the nurse in the PAS office.
If you are having a joint replacement surgery or major abdominal surgery, you will be required to have an in-person appointment at the Pre Anesthesia Office instead of a telephone interview. You will have a face to face interview with the anesthesiologist and the Registered Nurse. Pre Op joint replacement patients will also have face to face meetings with a member of the Rehabilitation / Physical Therapy Department and the Case Management Office.
