"Every day I'm met with new challenges from our patients,
and I'm often rewarded on both a professional and personal level."
Born and raised in New York City, Dr. Christopher Trancynger was fascinated with the biological sciences, and his desire to become a doctor blossomed from there.
"I was initially interested in Biochemistry research, but found the Humanities more rewarding, both socially and personally. Therefore, I feel I made the right decision by going into medicine and general practice.
Dr. Trancynger graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in Long Island, earning his B.S. in Biochemistry. He next pursued his medical degree at New York University Medical School, and completed his internship and residency at Stony Brook Hospital, Long Island.
Currently, Dr. Trancynger is a primary care physician at Hillcrest Family Health, treating a myriad of illnesses and conditions. "Every day I am met with new challenges from our patients," he noted, "and I'm rewarded oftentimes on both a professional and personal level."
Dr. Trancynger was introduced to The Berkshires by his wife's family, which had a summer home here. "When we left Long Island to start a family and a practice in the early 1990's," recalls Dr. Trancynger, "The Berkshires offered everything we could hope for."
Dr. Trancynger is an avid collector of jazz music. He also enjoys boating, tennis and cross-country skiing. He lives in Lenox with his wife, Claudia, a real estate agent, and their three children; Ian, attending Wesleyan University, Eric at Lenox High School and Kate at Miss Hall's School.
