David Finck, MD
"My practice at BMC has enabled me to spend my professional life
doing the things I care most about.”
Dr. Finck has practiced cardiology at BMC for more than 25 years and understands the close connection between the healthcare system and local community.
A practitioner of "broad-based, consultative clinical cardiology," the Brookline native was attracted to medicine through an early interest in science. He also had a role model in his father, who was an anesthesiologist.
"I enjoyed science and being with people," he says. "My practice at BMC has enabled me to spend my professional life doing the things that I care most about.”
Dr. Finck chose his specialty after working with cardiologists during his medical training and being intrigued by what they did. A 1974 graduate of Tufts University Medical School, Dr. Finck completed his internship and residency at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He later studied cardiology at the Boston Veterans Administration Medical Center on a fellowship. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease.
In addition to his role as a cardiologist, Dr. Finck serves as the medical director of BMC's Cardiopulmonary Fitness Center - an award-winning program that is recognized as a "Best Practice Site" by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
Exercise such as hiking ranks high on Dr. Finck's list of hobbies. He also enjoys reading and listening to classical music. Cooking is another of Dr. Finck's interests. His menus are, appropriately, "heart healthy." Dr. Finck is the father of two grown children.
