Burn care therapy, including reconstructive surgery, may be an option following a severe burn that limits mobility, causes a loss of sensation or is cosmetically unappealing. The goals of reconstructive burn surgery are to improve both the function and the cosmetic appearance of burn scars. This involves the modification or alteration of scar tissue by both non-operative and operative means.
Surgery cannot completely remove burn scars but may be able to help improve basic functions or make scars less noticeable. Our treatments include scar massage, application of pressure garments, skin grafts, microsurgery, free flap procedure and tissue expansion.
