BMC Pastoral Care
Welcome to Pastoral Care at BMC
The Chaplains make daily rounds throughout the hospital campus offering spiritual support to those in need. This includes individuals and families in crisis, patients going into surgery, behavioral health patients through “Strength and Hope" support groups, as well as staff and physicians. In addition, the Chaplains make every effort to be available on an on-call basis for emergency requests for patients, their loved ones and the hospital staff.
The chaplains collaborate with area clergy and faith community leaders to offer the most helpful pastoral care. Our office assistant, Kim French, organizes a cadre of trained volunteers, especially Eucharistic Ministers who bring Communion to Catholic patients. The local priests are available for Sacramental ministry, when needed. Other clergy are kept informed and offer to assist when requested for patients and families.
The Interfaith Chapel at BMC is on the first floor near the hospital entrance and it is available 24/7 for private reflection and prayer, as well as for regular group worship services. Special services are held throughout the year such as Ash Wednesday services and the Blessing of Hands for physicians, staff, and visitors.
The staff consists of Chaplain Marcie Greenfield Simons, Chaplain Ann O’Neil, and Kim French, Support Services Assistant. The Chaplains are available to offer in-services on topics such as Spirituality, Companioning the Dying, Pastoral Care and Behavioral Health, the Grieving Process, Advanced Care Planning and Medical Ethical Dilemmas.
